Guided implant surgery is an evolution of traditional implant techniques. Because of its greater precision and reduced risk of complications, it is changing the way dental implants are performed.
This procedure uses advanced technologies, such as cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), to plan and place implants into the bone in an extremely precise manner. Through a digital scan performed with an intraoral scanner, we are able to detect the exact anatomy of the hard tissues (teeth) and soft tissues (gums) of the oral cavity. The surgery and implant placement is then planned through an implant planning software that allows us to put together the data obtained from the 3d radiograph (CBCT) and those obtained from the digital impression. This increases the accuracy of implant placement, reduces surgical time, and is particularly useful for patients who have lost multiple teeth or have limited space.
